Déjà Vu: “The governor has not spoken on this issue yet”

The Kansas legislature is expected to take up legislation this week from Attorney General Derek Schmidt to prohibit sanctuary cities. The bill was introduced following passage of a new County law that would protect illegal immigrants in Kansas City from deportation by “blocking police from cooperating or reporting to Immigration and Custom Enforcement.”

And as reported by KSN Friday, Laura Kelly “has not spoken on this issue yet.” Which comes as no surprise to those who’ve followed her cowardly pattern of staying silent.

“Whether she’s waiting to oppose vaccine mandates until after the Virginia election or calling to cut the grocery tax only after her opponent suggested it or refusing to speak up now as Kansas City becomes a sanctuary for illegal immigrants, Democrat Laura Kelly loves to follow the Joe Biden playbook of leading from behind,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “Kansans want and deserve a governor who doesn’t wait until it’s politically convenient to fight for their jobs or safety – which is why voters will send Kelly packing in November.”
