WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) today released a new video in the Louisiana governor’s race, highlighting Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards’ ties to left-wing activist Stacey Abrams.
Abrams, who lost the race for governor of Georgia last year but has refused to concede the election, announced in August that her organization is actively working on Edwards’ behalf in Louisiana – efforts embraced by the Louisiana Democratic Party and confirmed by the Democratic Governors Association. This past weekend, Abrams, who received a $5,000 campaign contribution from Edwards in 2018, addressed hundreds of College Democrats in New Orleans.

The video highlights extreme statements and policy proposals Abrams offered during her failed 2018 campaign. Included in the ad are clips of Abrams attacking free market economics and suggesting that illegal immigrants are part of the “blue wave” electorate. By donating thousands to Abrams long after she had taken these radical positions, Edwards illustrated his support for the most extreme elements of his party.
“John Bel Edwards doesn’t like to mention his support for extreme liberals like Stacey Abrams in his sales pitch to Louisiana voters – but unlike politicians, dollars don’t lie,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “John Bel Edwards endorsed Abrams’ radical agenda when he donated to her campaign, and now the left wing of the Democratic Party is working overtime to keep their ally in the governor’s mansion.”
