Recognizing incumbent GOP Governor Larry Hogan’s sky-high approval ratings and his weaker-than-expected challenger, Governing Magazine has updated its rating for the Maryland Governor’s race, moving the race from “Lean” to “Likely” Republican.
Governing explains, “in Maryland, Democrat Ben Jealous — the more liberal of the top two finishers in the primary — won the nomination to face Gov. Larry Hogan. That result, combined with Hogan’s strong approval ratings, has led us to move this race from lean Republican to likely Republican.”
Ben Jealous has quickly revealed himself to be a weaker-than-expected challenger, who can’t seem to explain how he will pay for his radical spending plans. Jealous began the general election by completely botching a national interview which led him to be labeled “too extreme for MSNBC.” During that interview, Jealous asked voters to “go ahead” and call him a socialist.
In another interview, an unprepared Jealous couldn’t even answer a basic question about Maryland’s eastern shore.
Jealous’ radical views meanwhile are even driving Democrats away from their nominee, with Democratic leaders breaking ranks to endorse Hogan for re-election.
Governing has recognized what’s become apparent on the ground – Maryland is poised to re-elect Larry Hogan, America’s most popular governor, and reject Ben Jealous’ reckless and radical views.
