Will Colorado Dem Gov Candidates Share Hickenlooper’s “Relief” If Amazon Passes On Denver?

Colorado Democrats are finally admitting just how out-of-touch they are with the concerns of everyday Coloradans.

For months, governors throughout the country have been vying to attract Amazon’s HQ2, along with its $5 billion of investment and 50,000 largely high-paying jobs, to their states. But, in contrast to these efforts, Colorado Democrat Governor John Hickenlooper says he will feel “a sense of relief” if Amazon decides not to open its second headquarters in Denver because it will save him from a “lot of hard work.”

As Amazon weighs its options, the rhetoric of Colorado’s leaders may be critical in shaping the company’s final decision. Will Colorado Democrat gubernatorial candidates Jared Polis, Donna Lynne, Cary Kennedy, and Mike Johnston defend Hickenlooper’s statement? And would they turn down 50,000 jobs if they are elected?

It’s time for Hickenlooper’s fellow Democrats to weigh in.

The Denver Post Reports:

“Days after Denver made the list of 20 finalists for Amazon’s new headquarters, Gov. John Hickenlooper tempered expectations about the bid, saying that if the tech giant picked another location, ‘I’m not going to cry.’

‘There will be a sense of relief if they choose somewhere else, because there are a lot of challenges and lot of hard work we will be avoiding,’ Hickenlooper told the City Club of Denver on Tuesday in response to a question about Amazon.”
