After going out of his way to gain the support of Big Labor in Connecticut, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Ned Lamont still hasn’t admitted if he will unionize his campaign staff. Across the nation, Democrat campaigns are following the trend of unionizing their staff. Yesterday, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Mark Eves’ campaign became one of the first in the New England region to do so.
Lamont however has yet to do the same, leaving voters wondering if he’ll back up his pro-union rhetoric with action. In past failed bids for statewide office, Lamont has been criticized by members of his own party for not unionizing his company, a decision that has severely hampered his support from union voters.
While Lamont claims to be a supporter of Big Labor, voters deserve to know if he will lead by example and unionize the staff for his campaign. If he refuses to do so, it would only further show how hypocritical he is willing to be just to win votes.
