After coming out strongly in favor of the Abolish ICE movement, Michigan Democrat gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer and her campaign are not backing down from their decision to put radical far-left politics ahead of protecting American families.
At a campaign event last week, Whitmer’s running mate Garlin Gilchrist was caught on video making several disparaging comments toward federal immigration authorities, claiming that ICE is “threatening” lives while also stating that they have a “moral responsibility” to not provide resources for the enforcement of the law. Whitmer sat next to Gilchrist and applauded his comments:
This comes shortly after reports that Gilchrist referred to the Palestinian group HAMAS as a “legitimately elected party that only rose to power b/c of Israeli aggression & Western complicity/enablement.” HAMAS has been designated a “Foreign Terrorist Organization” by the United States government since 1997.
By campaigning on a platform to abolish ICE while openly accusing federal immigration authorities of threatening lives, Whitmer and her campaign are sending a clear message that their radical far-left agenda comes before the safety and security of Michigan families.
