Top Ten States With Lowest Unemployment Are Republican Led

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released data that reveals, yet again, the top states with the lowest unemployment rates are Republican led. Despite Joe Biden’s attacks on GOP governors, there is no denying the facts: red states are back to work. Republican governors will continue to fight overreaching federal policies, support strong state economies, and protect individual rights.

The top ten states with the lowest unemployment rates are Republican-led, including:

  • Nebraska
  • Utah
  • New Hampshire
  • South Dakota
  • Idaho
  • Vermont
  • Alabama
  • Oklahoma
  • Montana
  • Georgia

The ten states with the highest unemployment rates are all Democrat-led, including:

  • Louisiana
  • Pennsylvania
  • Illinois
  • Connecticut
  • Hawaii
  • New Jersey
  • California
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • Nevada

Of the states whose unemployment rate is below the national average, more than twice as many (21) are led by Republican governors than those led by Democrats. The average Republican-led state unemployment rate is 4.3%, while the Democrat-led average is 5.9%, which is higher than the national average at 5.4%.

“Despite political attacks from Joe Biden and Washington Democrats, Republican governors continue to lead the nation through the pandemic recovery – all the while preserving American freedoms,” said RGA spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “As the White House and Democrats continue with their threats of one-size-fits-all restrictions and mandates, Republican state executives are clear: our states are open and back to work.”
