Top Massachusetts Dem Says Party Stuck With “The B Team” For 2018 Gov Race

Lacking serious top-tier candidates willing to challenge GOP Governor Charlie Baker, Massachusetts Democrats continue to sour on their chances in the 2018 gubernatorial election against America’s most popular governor. With a weak field of underwhelming candidates plagued by low name recognition, even Democrat consultants have begun labelling them “the B team.” While Governor Baker continues to attract bipartisan support for his results-driven leadership, Democrats appear neither eager nor optimistic about their prospects against him in the 2018 election.

The National Journal reports:

“Operatives also noted Reps. Seth Moulton and Joe Kennedy as possible candidates, but both congressmen and their consultants said this week they never seriously gave the race any thought, citing their work in Washington.

’If you don’t have a powerhouse Democrat who would have to give up something to take a chance, you’re kind of left with right now what looks like the B team,’ said Scott Ferson, a Massachusetts consultant to both congressmen.”
