As numerous controversies surround his bid for Ohio’s highest office, Democrat Richard Cordray should give voters answers for his record of mismanagement at tonight’s gubernatorial debate at the University of Dayton.
In recent weeks, Cordray’s campaign has come under fire for hiring a Democrat ad-making firm to which he funneled over $43 million in taxpayer-funded federal contracts while he led the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), raising serious ethical questions. Cordray’s record at the CFPB has also been the subject of criticism for his failure to protect employees from racial and gender discrimination that plagued the agency while he was running it. To make matters worse, Cordray was shown to be a poor steward for taxpayer dollars when he spent $215 million on luxurious renovations to the CFPB’s headquarters that went far beyond their original budget.
As Cordray’s record of mismanagement at the CFPB continues to burden his candidacy, he owes Ohio voters an answer: After spending years failing the public as a Washington D.C. Bureaucrat, why should Ohioans trust him to lead the Buckeye State?
