At Tonight’s Connecticut Gubernatorial Debate, Malloy Clone Ned Lamont Won’t Be Able To Escape His Record

In tonight’s Connecticut gubernatorial debate, Democrat Ned Lamont will try and mislead Connecticut voters into thinking that he’s a different type of politician who would take the state in a different direction. But after spending years supporting Failed Governor Dan Malloy’s agenda, promising even more tax hikes if elected, he’s not fooling anyone.

Since launching his candidacy, Lamont’s campaign has been in lock-step with Malloy, calling for new income tax hikes on working families, despite the fact that such increases have caused an exodus of taxpayers from the state over the last eight years. Lamont has also made it clear he would impose a new car tax and has supported Malloy’s proposal for electronic highway tolling, pledging to make tolls a “priority from day one.” But Lamont hasn’t just backed Malloy on tax hikes, he also came out in favor of the governor’s education proposals that called for reduced state aid to schools across Connecticut and forced teacher layoffs.

On major issues from taxes to education, Lamont has made it clear that he stands with Dan Malloy, no matter how damaging his agenda has proven to the state. While he may try to convince voters of the opposite tonight, Lamont can’t escape the fact that he’s just another Malloy Clone committed to raising taxes and continuing Connecticut’s economic decline.
