The Committee to Protect Nevada Jobs, a political action committee based in Nevada, has been registered in the name of consultant Daniel M. Hart, a long-time political advisor to Democratic candidate for governor Rory Reid.  The group’s intent is to get involved in attacking Republican candidates for governor while Reid runs for the office at the same time.  Under Nevada law, the PAC is not permitted to coordinate activities with Reid’s campaign.

“The cozy relationship between Dan Hart and Rory Reid certainly raises questions,” said Tim Murtaugh, spokesman for the Republican Governors Association.  “Rory has paid him, Rory’s county government has paid him.  This cloud is so big and dark that even Noah would be nervous.”

Clark County, where Reid serves as Chairman of the County Commission, paid Hart’s firm $102,000 to lobby the legislature in 2009.   Hart has served as a close associate of Reid’s throughout his political career and is even featured in an article posted on Reid’s gubernatorial campaign website.  He lists Rory Reid among his clients on the website for his consulting firm.

The long-standing relationship has begun to raise eyebrows as the campaign for governor continues.

“Dot-connecting here is not difficult,” observed the Las Vegas Sun.
