Richard Cordray Desperately Hopes Ohio Voters Forget His Mismanagement of Taxpayer Dollars

After running away from his job as a Washington D.C. Bureaucrat to pursue Ohio’s highest office, Richard Cordray is trying to ignore his own record of overspending taxpayer dollars. Yesterday, Cordray tweeted his disapproval of the federal deficit, blaming Republicans for overspending.

But Cordray’s newfound concern for the federal deficit is surprising given his history of  big spending during his career as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. While he was the bureau’s director, the CFPB grossly overspent on “luxurious” renovations to its headquarters, with costs running “significantly above the original budget,” exceeding $215 million. When Cordray was asked at a Congressional hearing in 2015 why the CFPB spent so much on the renovations by Congresswoman Ann Wagner, he replied “why does that matter to you?”

Despite his history of spending large sums of taxpayer money on luxurious renovations to his offices while funneling lucrative federal contract money to his Democrat allies, Richard Cordray is now trying to attack others in a brazen episode of hypocrisy.
