Nick Ayers, Executive Director of the Republican Governors Association, today issued the following statement regarding the announcement by former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich that he would challenge Democrat Martin O’Malley in November:
“The RGA wholeheartedly welcomes Governor Ehrlich to the race and believes he will make the election highly competitive.
“Marylanders will have a clear choice this fall as Governor Ehrlich compares his record as a defender of the taxpayer and friend to small business to Governor O’Malley’s record of raising taxes, increasing the debt and stifling job creation.
“Democratic governors throughout the nation have failed, and Governor O’Malley is a prime exhibit of how, even in so-called blue states, voters are looking to conservatives like Bob Ehrlich for sound leadership.”
