RGA Statement on Minnesota Democratic Primary

Minnesota primary voters have selected Mark Dayton as the Democratic candidate for governor. Republican Governors Association spokesman Tim Murtaugh today issued the following statement:

“Mark Dayton would be a disaster as governor of Minnesota. Brimming with reckless ideas about new spending programs, he would have no other way to pay for his plans except a massive tax increase. Such a burden would make Minnesota less competitive and kill jobs.

“Voters are rightly dubious about the runaway spending and tax hikes flowing out of Washington these days, and will reject a home-grown version of it in Minnesota.”
