As Virginia Governor, Kaine Proposed Raising Taxes by Billions; Right at Home with Pat Quinn
Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine is scheduled to stump for Illinois Governor Pat Quinn today at the Illinois State Fair. Republican Governors Association spokesman Tim Murtaugh today issued the following statement:
“When Tim Kaine was governor of Virginia, his answer to every budget problem was to raise taxes. In fact, in his outgoing budget, he proposed to raise state income taxes at a time when people were struggling to meet their own family budgets.
“It’s no wonder that Tim Kaine finds Pat Quinn to be a kindred spirit, since Quinn’s fondness for higher taxes is well-documented.
“The voters of Illinois should take note of Pat Quinn’s association with Tim Kaine, and be warned: another Quinn administration means higher taxes.”
