WASHINGTON, D.C. – Following State Senator Eddie Melton and former school board candidate Josh Owens withdrawing from the Indiana Democratic gubernatorial primary, the Republican Governors Association (RGA) released the following statement from Executive Director Dave Rexrode:
“Not only did Democrats fail to recruit a top-tier challenger in Indiana, but two out of their three candidates have been forced to withdraw from the race when it became clear they didn’t have the support to mount a campaign. Democrats now find themselves left with a little-known candidate with anemic fundraising and no record or plan on the issues that matter to Hoosiers.
“While Democrats’ inability to field a competitive candidate is embarrassing, it is hardly surprising given the successes Indiana is experiencing under Governor Eric Holcomb. From record job commitments to bold workforce development initiatives and historic infrastructure investments, Governor Holcomb is taking the Hoosier State to the next level and has an incredibly strong case to make to the voters for four more years.”
