RGA Releases New TV Ad In Louisiana Governor’s Race Targeting Gov. John Bel Edwards’ Failed Healthcare Takeover

WASHINGTON, D.C. – RGA Right Direction PAC, an organization supported by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), today released a new television ad in the Louisiana governor’s race. Titled “A Success,” the ad sheds light on Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards’ embrace of Democrats’ push for a government takeover of healthcare and reports of the waste, fraud, and abuse that have run rampant in Louisiana’s Medicaid system on his watch.

Democrats in Congress and on the 2020 presidential campaign trail have made their intentions clear – they want the federal government to completely take over healthcare for all Americans. Thanks to John Bel Edwards, Louisiana is already headed down the road toward government-run healthcare. Within days of taking office in 2016, Edwards embraced and expanded Obamacare, proving to the voters of Louisiana that he would toe the Democratic Party line.

Edwards’ expanded Medicaid program has since been exposed as a cesspool of mismanagement and misspending. His mismanagement led to tens of thousands of individuals receiving government benefits that they did not qualify for. Audits have also revealed that the Edwards administration may have wasted over $100 million in taxpayer dollars, prompting a federal probe. 

The ad includes Edwards touting the program as “a success” on “every level” – a stunning admission in light of his well-documented mismanagement.
