WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) today released the latest installment of its “Simply Stated” digital video series profiling GOP governors’ work to transform their states through pro-growth reforms and innovative policy solutions that improve the lives of working families.
The new video highlights South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s efforts to expand access to early childhood education in every school district in the state, the “cornerstone” of his 2020 legislative agenda.

Earlier this year, Governor McMaster announced an investment of $53 million to expand pre-kindergarten statewide, providing greater opportunities to thousands of low-income four-year-olds. The governor’s historic plan would enable Pre-K programs for low-income students to be established in the 17 school districts that currently don’t offer such a program and allow for parents to send their children to the public, private, parochial, or religious school of their choice. Lauded by both Republicans and Democrats, the governor’s plan funds and fulfills a promise legislators put into state law last decade.
“Governor McMaster’s investment to expand access to Pre-K represents a critical building block in the success of a young child’s education,” RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Through his bold and visionary education reforms, the governor is working to ensure that South Carolina’s youth are prepared to thrive in the 21st century economy.”
The previous episode in the Simply Stated series profiled Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s “Fast Track” workforce development initiative. View previous Simply Stated videos, and all RGA videos, here:
