RGA Launches New TV Ads in Kentucky Governor’s Race as 2020 Democrats Debate

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Putting Kentucky First, an organization supported by the Republican Governors Association (RGA), today released two new television ads in the Kentucky gubernatorial race, timed to coincide with the first televised 2020 Democratic presidential debates this week.

The first ad, titled “MAGA KY” contrasts Governor Matt Bevin’s partnership with President Donald Trump with Attorney General Andy Beshear’s support of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and record of attempting to obstruct Trump administration initiatives.

As Attorney General, Beshear has repeatedly filed suit against the Trump administration, and on the campaign trail he has touted support from left-wing groups like Indivisible, which describes itself as “a national, progressive organization founded to defeat the Trump agenda” – a goal shared by Democratic Socialists like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Governor Bevin, on the other hand, has partnered with the president on critical initiatives to improve Kentucky, including economic development, manufacturing job growth, and combatting the opioid crisis.

“As the Democratic presidential candidates prepare to take the debate stage and expose their party’s far-left, radical agenda for all Kentuckians to see, Andy Beshear’s record shows that he stands with liberal Democrats and against the vast majority of Kentucky voters,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “Governor Matt Bevin is working with President Trump to create jobs, grow the economy and move Kentucky forward. The choice could not be more clear – while Andy Beshear puts himself first, Governor Bevin is putting Kentucky first.”

The second new ad, titled “Trust,” builds on Putting Kentucky First’s previous spots exposing Andy Beshear’s record of putting his own interests ahead of serving Kentuckians and his ties to ethics scandals. As a lawyer, Beshear represented clients seeking benefits from the state while his father, Steve Beshear, was governor. Then, shortly after Beshear was elected as Attorney General, his handpicked deputy pleaded guilty and was jailed for taking bribes for state business deals. The deputy, Tim Longmeyer, donated thousands of dollars from the illegal proceeds of his schemes to Beshear’s campaign.

The ads will run on broadcast and cable networks across the state. Watch the ads at www.RealAndyBeshear.com.

“MAGA KY” Script:

[President Trump] You have your lowest unemployment numbers in history.

You have your best incomes in history.

You have jobs and companies flowing back in.

He’s a terrific man and a terrific governor, Matt Bevin.

[Voiceover] President Trump and Governor Bevin.

Making America and Kentucky Great Again.

Andy Beshear would take Kentucky backward.

Beshear stood with Hillary.

When she lost, he became part of the radical resistance, repeatedly suing to stop Trump’s agenda.

Andy Beshear’s with them, not us.

“Trust” Script:

As a lawyer, Andy Beshear cashed in at our expense.

Grabbing big tax breaks for his clients, while his dad was governor.

But it gets worse.

As Attorney General, Beshear’s office has been covered in scandal.

Beshear’s top aide took bribes for state business.

Then used the dirty money to give Beshear thousands in illegal campaign cash.

Bribery and betrayal.

Kickbacks and corruption.

Politician Andy Beshear can’t be trusted.
