WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association (RGA) today launched a digital ad campaign highlighting Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s broken promises and tanking approval rating as she gives the Democratic Party’s response to the State of the Union Address.
The ads feature a video, titled “Broken Roads, Broken Promises,” compiling media coverage of Whitmer’s failure to achieve any progress on her signature campaign pledge to “fix the damn roads,” including vetoing hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure funding, and recent polling showing her approval rating plummeting. Whitmer’s attempt to get back on track in her recent State of the State address hit a roadblock when her new transportation plan was immediately panned by experts as a boondoggle that would saddle future generations with debt and fail to fix the majority of roads in the state.

The ads will be geofenced to the Michigan State Capitol on Facebook and Instagram, as well as targeting voters in the Lansing area.
“Governor Whitmer’s pursuit of national ambitions despite her failure to accomplish much of anything may seem laughable, but it’s no joke for the millions of Michiganders still driving on the crumbling roads she promised to fix,” said RGA Communications Director Amelia Chassé Alcivar. “With her poll numbers tanking, it’s clear that Michigan voters are still waiting for Gretchen Whitmer to do her damn job.”
