RGA Congratulates Asa Hutchinson on Arkansas Gubernatorial Primary Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association issued the following statement on the outcome of tonight’s Arkansas gubernatorial primary election:

“Inspired by the promise of his leadership, Arkansas voters tonight chose Asa Hutchinson, a common-sense conservative with his sights set on bringing real prosperity back to the state and its people,” said RGA Chairman Chris Christie. “Hutchinson is a sharp, principled candidate with years of experience in business and public service, and we are confident his commitment to growing Arkansas’ economy, creating jobs, and making the state competitive again – things that really matter to Arkansans – will drive him to victory this November. The Republican Governors Association is proud to support Hutchinson’s campaign and congratulates him on tonight’s win.”

“Despite Mike Ross’ best efforts to paint himself as a moderate, his record tells a far different story,” said RGA Executive Director Phil Cox. “A close ally of Nancy Pelosi, President Obama and Washington liberals with a penchant for wasteful spending, it’s clear Mike Ross is out of touch with Arkansans’ priorities. Up against a strong, principled candidate in Asa Hutchinson, Ross is going to have a tough time selling his liberal, big government agenda to Arkansas voters. The Arkansas governor’s race is a high priority for the RGA and we are excited to stand with Asa Hutchinson’s campaign.”
