RealClearPolitics has moved the Oregon governor’s race from “Leans Democrat” to “Toss Up,” reflecting recent polls that show the campaign between incumbent Democrat Governor Kate Brown and Republican Knute Buehler a dead heat. Brown has come under fire for mismanagement during her tenure, while Buehler has run a strong, policy-oriented campaign.
Just earlier this week, a poll found that the race is “a squeaker,” with Buehler holding a 25-point lead among independent voters.
RealClearPolitics’ decision to move the Oregon governor’s race to Toss Up comes after the Washington Post profiled Knute Buehler and wrote that his strong campaign was “giving Democrats fits.”
The Oregon governor’s race remains a top pick-up opportunity for Republicans this November.
