Embattled Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Tom Wolf campaigned on bringing a “fresh start” with regards to state transparency. Now, Wolf is being called out for breaking that promise to protect his unpopular Lieutenant Governor.
Lt. Governor Mike Stack and his wife are facing allegations that they “berated, threatened or mistreated the State Police troopers who guard them as well as the employees who maintain their official government residence.”
Tom Wolf launched an investigation – but now that the report is complete, Wolf is refusingto release the findings. “I’m not gonna release it,” Wolf said.
Now editorial boards across the state are slamming Wolf for his refusal.
The Tribune-Review says that Wolf is “wrongly withholding” the report. “The public has a right to see it.”
And the Times-Tribune editorial board writes that, “The report is an account of the behavior of a high-ranking public official; there is no reason for the public not to have access to it. Wolf should release it.”
Wolf’s refusal to release the findings of a taxpayer-funded investigation is a betrayal of his promises of transparency, and it begs the question – what else is Wolf hiding from the public?
