Continuing his established pattern of avoiding accountability, Washington D.C. Bureaucrat Richard Cordray is refusing to answer simple questions about his stances on the issues. The Columbus Dispatch sent a list of straightforward questions on “basic issues” to every candidate running for Governor of Ohio last week. Everyone responded, except for Cordray, who claimed he was too busy on the campaign trail.
While Cordray has had no problem sharing his thoughts on Twitter regarding Simon and Garfunkel, college football, and even Willie Nelson lyrics, answering simple questions about his stances on basic issues was apparently too much to ask of him. Perhaps Cordray is worried that Ohio voters will actually learn more about him and his disastrous record at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which was labelled the “least accountable agency in U.S. history” as it was constantly plagued by accusations of bureaucratic overreach and now faces allegations of “widespread racism and gender discrimination” under his watch.
It’s no surprise that Washington D.C.’s most power-hungry bureaucrat would want to hide his record from Ohio voters, but his refusal to give straight answers to simple questions further proves how little he can be trusted to lead. If Cordray isn’t willing to provide voters with clear answers on basic issues, what else is he willing to hide from them?
