New RGA Web Video: Gov. Rick Snyder’s Innovation Brings Jobs To Michigan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Governors Association released a new web video today showcasing an innovative job training program Governor Rick Snyder has put in place in Michigan to develop highly skilled talent and connect Michiganders to job openings in the state’s growing workforce.

The Michigan Advanced Technician Training program (MAT²), in its pilot phase this year, is a dual education initiative where students work as an apprentice for a partner company that, in turn, covers the cost of tuition at a local community college. Upon completion of the three-year degree program, students are guaranteed a full-time position at a partner company. Governor Snyder witnessed a similar program’s success during a trade mission and replicated it in Michigan in an effort to provide job opportunities that meet workforce demand and put more people on a path to a fulfilling career.

“Republican governors are working every day to apply creative, innovative solutions to their state’s most vexing problems, and they’re achieving meaningful, measurable results just as Rick Snyder has in Michigan,” said RGA Communications Director Gail Gitcho. “Leaders like Governor Snyder will stop at nothing to ensure their state’s economy is thriving and its people have access to the opportunities they need to create a better life for themselves and their families – that’s how Governor Snyder and Republican governors across the country are driving the American comeback.”
