Nevada Dem Gov Candidate Steve Sisolak Calls It A “Privilege” To Slap Public School Students

Nevada Democrat gubernatorial candidate Steve Sisolak is facing serious questions after making favorable comments about the practice of slapping school children. New video shows Sisolak at a campaign event stating that it is “unfortunate” that public school teachers do not have the “privilege” to slap misbehaving students. With Sisolak appearing to endorse corporal punishment in Nevada public schools, he owes voters an immediate explanation for his bizarre comments.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

“Steve Sisolak, the frontrunner for Nevada’s Democratic gubernatorial nomination, said at an event last week that it was ‘unfortunate’ public school teachers do not have the ‘privilege’ to slap misbehaving students.

Sisolak, the current Nevada Clark County Commission Chair, began the strange tangent at a meeting hosted by the Stonewall Democratic Club of Southern Nevada last Wednesday.

Sisolak responded to a long question involving a mother’s experiences with private school.

‘I went to Catholic school when I was yea big for two years and got–,’ Sisolak said before making a motion to slap his knuckles.

The woman’s question did not involve corporal punishment, but the gubernatorial candidate went on.

‘Of course, we had nuns at the time and I got my knuckles slapped more than one time for not being appropriate in class,’ Sisolak said.

‘I had it coming every time that it happened. Unfortunately, our public school teachers don’t have that privilege,’ he added.

‘I mean they don’t have the ability to discipline the way they do in private schools,’ Sisolak said before going on to discuss ideas on childhood education more broadly.”
