A bill headed to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s desk creates a $20 million slush fund to give illegal immigrants checks up to $1,000.
According to reporting by the Santa Fe New Mexican and Pinion Post, anyone, including illegal immigrants, are eligible to receive checks if registered with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
That’s exactly how New Mexicans want their tax dollars spent, instead of fighting the state’s violent crime plague, I’m sure.
“Michelle Lujan Grisham did not just rip the sexual harassment page out of Andrew Cuomo’s playbook, she grabbed the ‘sending checks to illegal immigrants‘ section too,” said RGA spokesman Will Reinert. “This is not how New Mexicans want their taxpayer dollars spent, and expect voters to express their displeasure at the ballot box this November.”
