Minnesota Dem Leaders “Alarmed” As Their Gov Candidates Continue To Alienate Rural Voters

After their party endorsed a radically far-left Democrat candidate for governor, who subsequently selected an even more radically far-left running mate, Minnesota Democrats are reportedly “alarmed” that they will alienate rural voters in this year’s gubernatorial election.

Last month, the Minnesota DFL issued a surprise endorsement of far-left candidate Erin Murphy. Murphy then selected Erin Maye Quade as her running mate, despite both being from the Twin Cities metro area. Now, the Star Tribune is reporting that Democrat party leaders are in crisis mode, and are afraid that this ticket will lead to further rural losses for their party.

The Star Tribune writes, “A group of DFL lawmakers from greater Minnesota is alarmed by the prospect of running in November with the all-Twin Cities gubernatorial ticket of state Reps. Erin Murphy and Erin Maye Quade, their party-endorsed candidates.”

“As Democrats increasingly lose their hold on political power outside Minnesota’s largest cities, these DFL elected officials — most of whom served alongside Murphy and Maye Quade in the Legislature — worry that a growing metro bent could leave the DFL’s rural constituencies increasingly endangered.”

Erin Murphy and Erin Maye Quade are not the only potential Democrat candidates that would alienate rural voters. Congressman Tim Walz has been heavily criticized for disparaging rural voters, mocking them as “mostly rocks and cows.”

By further exacerbating their problems in rural areas, Minnesota Democrats continue to increase the likelihood that their state flips red this November.
