With Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin becoming the latest Malloy Enabler to drop out of the race for governor, following Kevin Lembo, Nancy Wyman, Ted Kennedy Jr., Dita Bhargava, Chris Mattei and George Jepsen, only a handful of candidates are left to compete for the endorsement of America’s most unpopular governor, Dan Malloy. As committed supporters of Malloy and his anti-jobs agenda, Ned Lamont, Susan Bysiewicz, and Jonathan Harris all make compelling cases to become Malloy’s standard bearer.
In recent weeks, Lamont has become one of Malloy’s loudest supporters, endorsing his toll proposals and even distorting the facts in order to defend business tax hikes that caused General Electric to leave the state in 2016. Bysiewicz has also backed Malloy’s toll proposal and has an established record of supporting tax hikes. Harris also has a case to make after he worked in Malloy’s administration, just like Bronin.
With three major candidates firmly committed to pushing his anti-jobs, anti-business agenda that has brought Connecticut further into economic decline, Malloy has a tough decision ahead of him. But no matter who he throws his support behind, Democrats will be forced to run on nearly eight years of failed Malloy policies.
