I wanted to send a quick note to make sure you saw yesterday’s reports from The Topeka Capital Journal and The Kansas Reflector on Democrat Laura Kelly’s failed record at the Kansas Department of Children and Families:
- Kansas foster kids are still sleeping offices after Kelly promised the practice would end,
- Kansas has one of the highest rates for missing foster care children, and
- Kansas DCF failed to release annual report on child sexual abuse.
Meanwhile, Kelly’s office ordered Kansas DCF Secretary Laura Howard to use state resources and time to defend Kelly against political attacks.
“Governor Kelly made a promise in 2018 to fix the Kansas foster care system – even going as far to say we have a ‘moral obligation’ to do so – and the bottom line is she’s failed,” Attorney General and Republican candidate for Governor Derek Schmidt said. “Many of the problems plaguing the system are still there.”
