Gretchen Whitmer Refuses To Admit If She Backs Plan To Raise Taxes On Michigan Families

With Congressional Democrats promising to raise taxes on Michigan families should they secure majorities this November, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer refuses to admit if she supports their plan. With newly lowered tax rates already having a measurably positive impact on Michigan, taxpayers deserve to know if Whitmer will support their undoing.

Earlier this year, Fiat Chrysler announced they would invest more than $1 billion in a Michigan plant and give $2000 bonuses to employees in direct response to the GOP’s tax cuts. They also announced that they would relocate production of vehicles from Mexico to Michigan, bringing investment back to the state’s world-renowned automotive industry as a result of tax reform. Michigan’s smaller employers are also reaping the rewards of tax cuts, like Land & Co, an apartment managing company that employs 151 full-time employees, which gave out $1000 bonuses in response.

With Michigan workers experiencing the clear positive impact of GOP tax cuts, Whitmer has given them no indication that she will protect them from Congressional Democrats’ irresponsible proposals to raise their taxes. Michigan voters deserve to know if Whitmer stands with her party’s leaders in Washington D.C. or with the people of her state.
