Another Top Democrat Gubernatorial Recruit Passes On Running In New Hampshire

New Hampshire Democrats now find themselves with one less candidate for this year’s gubernatorial race with State Senator Dan Feltes announcing that he will take a pass on running. Feltes joins Colin Van Ostern and Andru Volinsky as the latest major candidate to decide against challenging GOP Governor Chris Sununu this fall.

This leaves the Democrats stuck with Steve Marchand and Molly Kelly, a pair of partisan tax hikers who are committed to undoing the progress achieved since Governor Sununu’s election. And with Governor Sununu’s approval rating above 60 percent as his bipartisan efforts to grow jobs, improve education, and tackle the opioid epidemic earn national attention, Democrats continue to only offer failed policies that would hurt New Hampshire families and take the state backwards.

WMUR-TV reports:

“Democratic state Sen. Dan Feltes took himself out of the gubernatorial conversation for 2018 Friday…

Feltes said he intends to seek a third term in the state Senate, representing District 15, which includes his home city of Concord, as well as Henniker, Hopkinton and Warner.

His decision not to run for statewide office leaves former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand as the only declared Democratic candidate for governor, while former state Sen. Molly Kelly of Harrisville is exploring a candidacy and is expected to enter the race in the coming weeks.”
