In the Florida Democrat gubernatorial primary, the Bernie Sanders-wing of the party is continuing to reject typical establishment politicians Gwen Graham and Philip Levine.
Just yesterday, Indivisible Action Tampa Bay, a progressive grassroots group, overwhelmingly voted to back Andrew Gillum, who has been drawing major crowds and earned media. The endorsement comes only weeks after Gillum secured the support of the Bernie Sanders aligned group, Our Revolution.
Florida’s divided Democrat gubernatorial primary is not only reigniting the divisive Democrat infighting of 2016, but also, as the Washington Post recently reported, pulling the entire Democrat field to the left. As the Democrat candidates continue to divide their party and embrace extreme positions, their chances of hobbling together a winning coalition keeps diminishing.
