Florida Dem Gov Primary Shaping Up As Another Hillary vs. Bernie Style Fight

Florida’s Democrat gubernatorial primary is quickly shaping up to be another Hillary vs. Bernie style brawl. As establishment Democrats back former Congresswoman Gwen Graham and former Miami Beach Mayor Phillip Levine, the Bernie Sanders wing of the party is going all-in for Andrew Gillum. Just today, Our Revolution – the Bernie Sanders aligned group – threw its support behind Gillum’s campaign for governor, over Graham and Levine.

Our Revolution’s decision to support Gillum is another blow to Graham’s struggling campaign and reminds voters of the infamous Hillary vs. Bernie style fight of 2016. Florida’s Democrat political establishment has long promoted Gwen Graham as the inevitable front-runner, just like they did for Hillary Clinton. But, as Graham has failed to attract base enthusiasm, “raise real money,” and deflect devastating attacks from her rivals for flip-flopping on key issues, her campaign has continued to suffer.

Despite the “cloud” of corruption and scandals surrounding his candidacy, Gillum continues to attract large support in the competition for earned media,” drawing “big crowds,” and securing major endorsements, including a former Florida Democrat Party Chair, and now from Our Revolution.

As Democrats appear poised to repeat their party’s divisive 2016 infighting in this year’s Florida governor’s race, their chances of uniting for victory in November are quickly diminishing.
