Days after his Howard Deanesque rant http://youtu.be/FUQjqILJyLM on why he is losing his re-election bid, Strickland stood by his comments about the Republican Party being overtaken by zealots, extremists, and radicals who don’t like America.
When asked by a reporter if he stood by his comments that Republicans don’t like America very much, Strickland said “yes” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z7PTdidXaDk and then went on to claim that his original quote was taken out of context.
“Ted Strickland is digging a deep hole that he’s not going to be able to get out of,” said RGA spokesman Chris Schrimpf. “He says he stands by his comments about Republicans being extremists and criticizes Republicans for wanting to change Ohio from the way it is. Ted Strickland’s Ohio has lost 400,000 jobs. Strickland doesn’t want to change that? No wonder he’s coming unhinged.”
