In case you missed it… OPB asked the candidates for Oregon governor about their plans to address the housing crisis and, yet again, Tina Kotek and Betsy Johnson complained about the stalled progress on an issue that only got worse under their control.
From flip-flopping on solutions to the crisis:
- Then: “While we have a shortage of supply, and it’s the underlying cause of the problem, we cannot and should not simply believe that we can build our way out of this crisis.“
- Now: “We simply have to get more serious about building a lot more housing.“
To dodging questions on what they’ve done to help:
- Out of her 21-year record as an Oregon legislator, Johnson couldn’t point to one meaningful vote she took to address the housing crisis.
“If Tina Kotek and Betsy Johnson want to point fingers at who’s to blame for the failing status of the state, they should look in the mirror,” said RGA Spokeswoman Kaitlin Price. “There have been plenty of trials that have all resulted in errors under the control of Tina, Betsy, and Governor Brown and voters know the housing crisis can’t afford another four years of failure under Democrat control.”
