Florida Dem Gov Candidates Underwhelm Voters As Fundraising Issues Continue

Stuck with a lackluster field of candidates struggling to break through, Florida Democrats’ chances of winning the state’s 2018 gubernatorial race continue to plummet as they face a growing enthusiasm gap. The current field of Democrats, comprised of Gwen Graham, Andrew Gillum, and Chris King, drew bad reviews at a forum this weekend, with Florida Politics calling the event “underwhelming” while noting that “few significant policy disagreements emerged” between the three of them.

To make matters worse, the Democrats’ fundraising issues are continuing to attract rough headlines for the three struggling candidates. Over the weekend, Sunshine State News reported that Republicans continue to “significantly outraise their potential Democratic opponents,” presenting a huge challenge for Graham, Gillum, and King in a state known for expensive media markets.

As the three Democrats face lackluster reviews, a growing fundraising gap, and, in the case of Gillum, even legal issues, their party’s efforts to win one of 2018’s most important contests are off to an abysmal start little over a year ahead of Election Day in the Sunshine State.
