In his race to the left against Ralph Northam for Virginia’s Democrat gubernatorial nomination, failed former congressman Tom Perriello is advocating for radical far-left increases in spending with no concern for the burden it will place on Virginia taxpayers. Perriello’s own campaign estimates that his agenda will cost almost one billion dollars for the Commonwealth, and could likely be paid for only with new tax hikes.
The Daily Press reports:
“Pricy campaign promises added up fast in this year’s governor’s race, particularly for Democratic hopeful Tom Perriello, whose campaign estimates three proposals to cost nearly $900 million…
The Perriello campaign figures free community college for all Virginians would cost less than $350 million a year, in addition to what the state spends now….
Perriello has backed a new requirement of eight weeks family leave, paid at two-thirds of a worker’s salary.
His campaign put the cost at $430 million annually.”
