With barely a month to go until Michigan’s Democrat gubernatorial primary, establishment favorite Gretchen Whitmer is still struggling to catch fire with her party’s voters. WLNS-TV reports that Whitmer’s campaign “is going nowhere” and that she is in “deep trouble” in the Detroit area, where polls have her trailing liberal multimillionaire Shri Thanedar by 39 points in the city.
This comes as The Detroit Free Press reports that Whitmer has “been having trouble igniting a fire of enthusiasm from Detroit voters,” with some voters not finding out she was a candidate until they received their absentee ballot.
Even with the reluctant backing of the Democrat establishment and Big Labor groups, Whitmer’s underwhelming campaign continues to struggling with voters.
