Will Kentucky Democrats Stay Silent As Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Attacks Coal Industry Jobs?

While Kentucky’s Democrat gubernatorial candidates remain silent on “Green New Deal” architect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s planned visit to the Bluegrass State, the self-described socialist Congresswoman continues to push a costly, job-killing agenda that would destroy Kentucky’s vital coal industry.

In a televised town hall hosted by MSNBC’s Chris Hayes this weekend, Ocasio-Cortez asserted that she doesn’t want to allow jobs in the coal industry to be “better, more dignified, and higher wage than ‘new’ energy jobs” – making it clear that her policies would come at the expense of those employed by Kentucky’s coal industry.

ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ: “We cannot allow for fossil fuel jobs to be better, more dignified, and higher wage with a stronger labor movement behind it than new energy jobs.”

“Andy Beshear, Adam Edelen, and Rocky Adkins can no longer remain silent on their party’s radical agenda as they seek the Democrat nomination for governor,” said RGA Deputy Communications Director John Burke. “If they truly care for the economic security of the thousands of Kentuckians employed in the coal industry, they will stand up and oppose Ocasio-Cortez’s war on Kentucky jobs. Refusing to do so would only signal their tacit approval of her anti-worker, anti-jobs Green New Deal plan.”
