Last week, far-left California billionaire Tom Steyer announced that he and his NextGen America Super PAC would organize and hold a debate for Michigan’s Democrat gubernatorial candidates. This raises a new question for Democrats Gretchen Whitmer, Shri Thanedar, and Abdul El-Sayed as they pursue their party’s nomination: Will they endorse Tom Steyer’s radical agenda and accept an invitation to his debate?
Steyer’s NextGen America Super PAC spent over $9 million supporting Democrat candidates willing to back his left-wing agenda during the 2016 election cycle. Since then, he has spent big on television ads to promote himself and his extreme agenda while making divisive calls for the President’s impeachment.
Now with Steyer’s attention turning toward this year’s race for Michigan’s highest office, Whitmer, Thanedar, and El-Sayed have a choice to make. Will they choose to share a stage with Steyer and embrace his far-left agenda? Or will they stand with the people of Michigan and reject his radical and divisive platform?
