Will Colin Van Ostern Still Brag About His Obamacare Vote?

Partisan Political Operative Colin Van Ostern bragged that he cast the deciding vote to bring Obamacare to New Hampshire. He then even took it a step further, promising to double-down on his support, and make Obamacare permanent in the state.

Now, a new government report shows Obamacare premiums will be hit with a double-digit rate hike next year, with average premiums raised over 22%. This comes after former President Bill Clinton recognized that Obamacare isn’t working for New Hampshire, calling it “a crazy system” that is doubling healthcare premiums and cutting insurance coverage for millions of Americans. And after Minnesota’s Democrat Governor noted that Obamacare was “no longer affordable.”

Colin Van Ostern’s thinks Washington knows whats best. He’s wrong for New Hampshire.

“Premiums will go up sharply next year under President Barack Obama’s health care law, and many consumers will be down to just one insurer, the administration confirmed Monday. That’s sure to stoke another “Obamacare” controversy days before a presidential election.

Before taxpayer-provided subsidies, premiums for a midlevel benchmark plan will increase an average of 25 percent across the 39 states served by the federally run online market, according to a report from the Department of Health and Human Services. Some states will see much bigger jumps, others less.

Moreover, about 1 in 5 consumers will have plans only from a single insurer to pick from, after major national carriers such as UnitedHealth Group, Humana and Aetna scaled back their roles.” (Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar, “Obama Health Plan Hit By Double-Digit Premium Hikes,” Associated Press, 10/24/16)
