Over two months ago, far-left California billionaire Tom Steyer and his NextGen America Super PAC told BuzzFeed News that they were planning on organizing a debate for Democrat gubernatorial candidates in Michigan. But so far, Steyer has failed to follow through.
The three Democrats running for governor – who have made headlines as one of the party’s most far-left gubernatorial fields ever – have agreed to two debates on June 20 in Grand Rapids and July 19 in Detroit, but Steyer doesn’t appear to have had any role in organizing them. This raises one big question for Steyer: Is he ignoring his pledge to provide a forum for Michigan’s Democrat gubernatorial candidates?
With less than two months until Michigan’s August primary, Steyer doesn’t have much time to make good on his promise. While Shri Thanedar, Gretchen Whitmer, and Abdul El-Sayed continue to abandon the center and embrace the extreme as they desperately try to win far-left primary voters, they should urge Steyer to organize a debate and join him on stage so they can tell voters if they will embrace his agenda.
