When your own surrogates don’t know your name, it’s not a good sign. Despite endorsing Democrat gubernatorial candidate Tom Perriello earlier this week, Bernie Sanders can’t even get the failed former congressman’s name right. While campaigning for Perriello last night at George Mason University, Bernie Sanders mistakenly called on supporters to help elect “Tom Perrioli” as governor.
BERNIE SANDERS: “In the first year of the Trump administration, you are going to help elect a fighting progressive, ‘Tom Perrioli.’”
Even after a week of media coverage of his endorsement for Perriello, Bernie Sanders couldn’t even remember the name of the candidate he was standing just feet away from. The gaffe is a sure sign that Sanders doesn’t really know the failed congressman and that his endorsement was nothing more than a publicity stunt to get them both a few headlines.
