Whitmer’s Final State of the State

Tonight, Gretchen Whitmer will deliver her final state of the state address to Michigan families.

After three years of rampant hypocrisy and secrecy, we thought we’d share some stories that Whitmer might try to underreport tonight:

• After forcing Covid-positive patients into nursing homes, Whitmer’s administration undercounted nursing home deaths by 42%.
• After locking Michiganders out of nursing homes and telling them not to travel to Florida, Whitmer secretly vacationed in Florida with her father.
  • Whitmer’s not the only one who likes to travel, as her husband skirted her lockdown orders and vacationed in Northern Michigan.
• Thanks to Whitmer’s draconian and unconstitutional lockdowns, Michigan has the worst unemployment rate in the Midwest, 44% higher than the national average.
• Michigan’s roads continue to deteriorate after Whitmer failed to pass any meaningful road funding package, only proposing a 173% gas tax increase.
• While heating costs are skyrocketing, Whitmer is trying to shut down Line 5 which would leave Northern Michigan in the dark and has set off an international dispute with Canada.
• Schools continue to close across the state while Whitmer stays quiet.
• Despite knowing that Benton Harbor had unacceptable levels of lead in its water supply for years, Whitmer failed to act and instead left the state to campaign for Terry McAuliffe and party with her DC friends.

“Gretchen Whitmer made countless promises to voters on the campaign trail in 2018, but after three years in office Michigan is left with nothing but broken roads and broken promises,” said RGA Spokesperson Chris Gustafson. “Whitmer has proven to every voter across the Great Lakes State that she is unfit to lead and will time after time put her political ambitions and cronies ahead of Michigan families. Thankfully, this will be Whitmer’s last state of the state, and perhaps next year she can spend it where she’d rather be: Florida.”
