Apparently hiding toxic lead levels in the drinking water from Benton Harbor residents wasn’t enough for Gretchen Whitmer. Now, instead of working to address the crisis and distribute bottled water, Whitmer is once again placing her partisanship first and fleeing to Virginia to campaign with Terry McAuliffe.
With lead levels worse than those found during the Flint Water Crisis, residents of Benton Harbor have been failed by Whitmer and her administration, who knew about the crisis for over three years and yet did nothing.
“Gretchen Whitmer’s weekend getaways are no longer surprising, but with an ongoing water crisis at home it’s disgraceful to the residents of Benton Harbor that she’s placing Terry McAuliffe before them,” said RGA Spokesperson Chris Gustafson. “By fleeing to Virginia amid a water crisis her administration tried to conceal, it’s clear that Whitmer cares more about electing Democrats than providing Michiganders with clean drinking water.”
