Weekly Standard: In An Election About Maryland Issues, Governor Larry Hogan Wins

The Weekly Standard is profiling popular GOP Maryland Governor Larry Hogan’s re-election campaign in a new piece, outlining how Hogan’s moderate credentials and successful record position him for success this November against a radical opponent who wants to spend massive amounts the state doesn’t have. Hogan is on track to be the first Republican governor re-elected in Maryland in more than 60 years.

The Weekly Standard writes, “Hogan is a rare bird in American politics, a broadly popular Republican governor in a very blue state; Democrats outnumber Republicans two to one in Maryland.”

Just months into office, Governor Hogan “developed a reputation for steady leadership,” leading his state through riots in Baltimore and winning own battle against cancer, a struggle that “played out in the public eye.” Since, Hogan’s delivered on his promise to bring jobs and economic growth back to Maryland, with the state rapidly climbing in the “Top States for Business” ranking. “Altogether, Hogan’s proven to be a potent package for winning over voters.”

Now, Governor Hogan is taking on far-left radical activist Ben Jealous, who wants to force through “a grand explosion of state government and enormous tax increases.” But with his impressive accomplishments, the Weekly Standard explains that Hogan is poised to win an election about issues that pits his moderate, successful record against a radical tax-hiking alternative.

“It’s an election about the issues, and it is hard to imagine Larry Hogan complaining about that.”
