VIDEO: Minnesota Dem Gov Candidate Embraces Energy Tax Hike That Would Raise Fuel Prices

In what is being described as a “big play for Bernie Sanders supporters,” Minnesota State Auditor and DFL candidate for governor Rebecca Otto is embracing a massive carbon tax – and openly admits that it will raise fuel prices on working families.

CBS Minnesota reported this weekend that Rebecca Otto is “backing a tax on carbon emissions that supporters say would provide an incentive for companies to curb emissions that contribute to global warming.”

The National Association of Manufacturers finds that a carbon tax could raise the cost of a gallon of gas by 20%, raise the cost of natural gas by 40%, and raise electricity costs by 5%.

CBS Minnesota asked Rebecca Otto how people could be impacted by her energy tax.

Otto’s answer? “Yes, could the price of fuel go up? Absolutely.

Watch Otto’s confused answer here.

It’s time for other leading candidates for governor – Tim Walz and Chris Coleman – to take a position. Do they stand with Rebecca Otto in supporting taxes that force higher energy prices?

Minnesotans deserve tax relief – not a far-left energy tax that will hurt working families.
