After previously claiming in an interview with MSNBC that raising taxes is “not something anyone would want to do,” Democrat gubernatorial candidate Christine Hallquist has decided to ignore her rhetoric and fully embrace higher taxes in Vermont.
At a gubernatorial debate on Wednesday, Hallquist attacked Governor Phil Scott for holding the line against tax increases, claiming that “no new taxes is not a good plan for the state of Vermont.” Despite her previous commitment to oppose tax hikes, Hallquist is now openly campaigning in support of increasing income taxes, property taxes, and numerous other tax and fee hikes that would hurt working families.
Vermont can’t afford Christine Hallquist as governor and can’t trust her to tell the truth.
