Top Connecticut Dems “Disappointed, Concerned” With Ned Lamont’s Campaign

As Ned Lamont attempts to solidify his title as Dan Malloy’s number one Enabler for the Democrat gubernatorial nomination in Connecticut, top party leaders are admitting they are “disappointed” and “concerned” with Lamont’s campaign, with one even leaving the door open to backing the GOP nominee. Despite Lamont’s efforts, many members of his party remain dissatisfied with his campaign and unconvinced that he can win in November:

New Haven Democrat Party Chair Vincent Mauro Jr. called Lamont’s ticket with Susan Bysiewicz “disappointing” while stating it hasn’t matched expectations.

Connecticut’s NAACP Chair, Scot X. Esdaile claimed that he is “very, very concerned” about the lack of diversity Lamont brings to the table and even went so far to state that he “is not ruling out throwing his support behind Republicans.”

Paul Bass of the New Haven Independent wrote that by picking Bysiewicz as his running mate, Lamont “may have sucker punched his urban base.”

With Lamont emerging as the Democrats’ top candidate after months of touting Dan Malloy’s failed policies on the campaign trail, his lack of support even from members of his own party does not bode well for his chances this November.
